Vintage Linen Care
About your Vintage Dyetopia purchase...
Your item has been dyed, making all the colors fast, so they’ll go another 50 years!
As a matter of policy and pleasure, I always hand wash and air dry delicate vintage textiles, mostly to get a feel for the qualities of the particular textile; it's condition, hand and heft, and it's suitability for dyeing. A front loading washer on gentle cycle should be fine. But no dryers except to air fluff (nice for blankets.)
Iron while slightly damp for best results. The heavier the iron the better. You can gently tug needle work back into shape.
Your item may have been starched to be ready for it's close up. If you plan to store it, I would suggest rinsing out the starch to discourage little critters hungry for corn.
A note about mends - usually I do them before dyeing, using a cotton or linen thread which will dye the same color, so they "blend in" rather like white work. Mends are noted and reflected in price. I don't include mended items unless the piece is worthy.
Please convo if I can be of further help. And thanks for your business! It keeps me doing what I love.
