Vintage Lingerie Care

Picture
Thank you for purchasing this vintage piece of
timeless glamour.  Though I usually dye vintage table
linens etc, I have really enjoyed branching into this
field.  Even if it's only at home that we can enjoy
these frothy treasures without feeling "in costume,"
well, then, why leave the house at all!

The old nylons, before flammability standards
were regulated to address the common practice of
setting fire to our family at bedtime, are especially soft - more like silk or rayon than the fabrics of today.

Please launder carefully; a lingerie bag in a front loader or hand wash - and watch out for hot irons!  Often a steamer or anti wrinkle spray will be all that is needed.

I've used my best judgement to decide what is worthy of restoring.  Sometimes it's just a color enhancement and a few stitches, other times the repairs (always noted) are more extensive.  For a special piece the trouble is worth it.  After all, there is a reason that bodice was ripped!
